About – Dr. Salika Lawrence

Dr. Salika Lawrence is the founder and CEO of SAL Consulting, LLC, an education consultant, researcher, and author with over three decades of experience in literacy education specializing in program design, implementation, and evaluation. With three decades of advocacy for literacy education, she is also a teacher educator who has served on advisory boards for the Teaching with Primary Sources program and the Library of Congress Literacy Awards. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Lawrence has delivered acclaimed consulting and professional development, led multi-year grant-funded initiatives, and partnered with New York and New Jersey school districts on curriculum projects impacting K-12 teachers and students. A former middle and high school teacher, she has authored over 50 publications, including peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy and Middle School Journal, and presented at major national and international conferences. Dr. Lawrence is also a member of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Consortium.
